In 2022, our founders were running a small e-commerce consultancy and kept hitting the same wall: clients' sites were slow because their images were enormous. Tools existed, but they were clunky, expensive, or needed a developer to configure. So Sara and James built a tiny internal tool over a weekend. Within three months, 12 external teams were using it.
Today SpeedImgs is the compression layer for Shopify stores, WordPress sites, enterprise CDNs, and developer pipelines. We're still building the same thing we built in that first weekend — just at considerably more scale.
